New Membership

Important: This page is only for new members wanting to join Furness u3a. If you are already a member then please instead see our Renewals page, unless you are sure that your membership has lapsed. (If you are not sure, please email membership@furnessu3a.org to check.)

If you would like to join Furness u3a as a new member, then this page enables you to join online and pay your membership subscription by debit or credit card, or by PayPal. If you cannot pay online, then you can instead join by downloading, printing and completing this Membership Form and posting it with a cheque to our membership secretary.

To join Furness u3a online, as a new member, first note that: –

  • The next page will ask you to choose between two types of membership, according to whether you are happy to receive the monthly newsletter by email (only £10/annum this year, and this is our preferred option), or would prefer to pay a higher subscription (£26) to have the newsletter printed and posted to you each month.
  • It will then ask for your full contact details and then direct you to PayPal to pay your subscription, but note that you don’t need a PayPal account to pay by card. And, despite appearances on the PayPal page, you don’t need to log into or sign up to PayPal, though of course you can pay by PayPal if you want. To pay by card without signing in to PayPal, see the separate “Pay by Debit or Credit Card” option at the bottom of the PayPal page, which bypasses their request to log in or sign up – see the highlighted button in the screenshot at the bottom of this page.
    • Note: If you can’t see the “Pay by Debit or Credit Card” button, try scrolling down, in case it’s below the bottom of your screen. It might also not be shown if you are viewing the ‘mobile site’ version of the PayPal page, in which case try switching to the ‘desktop site’ version, or else try joining on a laptop or desktop machine.
  • Your account details are kept secure by PayPal and not shared with us.

To proceed, please first fill in the short form below, and tick the box to give us permission to store your contact details in our secure database. Then, click the Next button at the end of the form to go to the next page, which asks for your full contact details and payment.

Your personal information will be protected and will only be used to provide Furness U3A services. It will not be shared with anyone outside the U3A, u3a national office and (postal address only) the company that provides postal distribution of the national ‘Third Age Matters’ magazine.
