2026 Membership Renewal

This page is for current or lapsed Furness u3a members to renew membership for the year 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2027, paying by debit/credit card or from a PayPal account. To renew in other ways, see the email our Membership Secretary sent to you.

Renewing by card or PayPal:

First, please note that: –

  • If you are not currently a Furness u3a member, then to join please instead see our New Membership page, or else download, print, complete and return the new member application form – see our main website membership page.
  • If you are an Associate member and are a full member of Grange & District u3a then you don’t need to do anything – your Associate membership will continue and we will contact you if needed. Other Associate members do need to renew membership.

The membership subscriptions for 2026-27 are: –

  • £10 for full membership with the preferred option of receiving monthly newsletters by email. Or £26 for full membership with the newsletter posted to you each month.
Note: If you want to change how you receive the newsletter, then please FIRST LET US KNOW, before renewing online, so we can update our records.
  • £5 for non-reciprocal Associate membership, i.e. if you are a full member of another u3a other than Grange & District u3a.
Note: Furness u3a and Grange & District u3a have a reciprical arrangement where full members of their u3a can join as Associate members of our u3a without charge, and vice versa.

The Renew Membership button below starts the process, but before you click that button please read these short notes, since the system changed in 2024 and now, before you can renew online you need to set up an online Membership Account if you haven’t previously done so (won’t need to do this again next year): –

  • Note: If you you already have an online membership account password, e.g. because you renewed online last year, then you can skip straight to “Renewal Step 1” below.
  • Otherwise, you need to create your new membership account (even if you already have a Beacon System User ID & password as a group leader, for example – the Membership account is something different). To do this, on the first page you see when you click the button below, ignore the Email and Password boxes and instead click “Register for a membership account“.
  • Then Identify yourself by entering your membership number, forename, surname, postcode and email address. These must match what’s in our records for you – see the renewal email we sent to you.
  • Then choose and enter your chosen password and click “Update Account“, which will send you a “Beacon password confirmation” email.
  • Then find that email in your emails and click the link in it to confirm your email address: The email should arrive within a few minutes and expires after an hour, so if it doesn’t arrive check your email and check your spam folder.
  • If you need more help on registering your membership account, see this short 5 minute video.

Having registered your online Membership Account, you can now do your renewal online and here’s a quick guide to the steps involved: –

Renewal Step 1: Sign in and choose renewal options:

  • Back on the Members Portal page, enter your email address and the membership account password you registered, and click “Confirm Identity“.
  • On the next page, select the ‘Renew your membership‘ link. You can then choose to gift aid your subscription – please do if you are a taxpayer – and if applicable you can also choose to renew your partner’s membership at the same time. Then click the “Make Payment” button.
    • Note: The portal page also offers another option: “Update your personal details“, which enables you to keep our records up to date if your contact details change.

Renewal Step 2: Pay your subscription:

  • Payment is taken via PayPal, but you DO NOT need a PayPal account or to register for one. You can instead choose to pay by debit/credit card as a guest, without logging into PayPal or creating a PayPal account, and in that case PayPal will just process the card payment.
  • The PayPal pages steer towards creating a PayPal account, so if you don’t want one don’t be put off by seeing a page titled “Log in to PayPal“. Instead, on that page: –
    • Ignore the Email and Password boxes and prominent “Log In” button. Instead click the less obvious “Pay by Debit or Credit Card” button near the bottom of the page (on a small device you might have to scroll the page up to see it).
    • On the “Pay with debit or credit card” page, enter your email address, phone number, card details and billing address – they won’t be saved by PayPal, just used to process the payment and send your receipt.
    • Then, below your details, make sure the “Save information and create your PayPal account” box is not ticked, and click the “Pay now as guest” button.
    • PayPal will email their receipt, and Furness u3a will email you to say “Thank you for renewing“.
