About

Normally the World History Group meets in the Coronation Hall on the first Tuesday of the month from 10.00 to noon.

Currently the Group is meeting via Zoom, on a bi-weekly basis, via Zoom. The sessions are open to anyone who’d like to join in, and all you need to do is get in touch with Rosie Kyles, the Group leader, at the email address below.

The aim of the group is to study history throughout the world and each member contributes their own area of study related to a group chosen topic.

Over the last few years we have covered:

  • the Balkans to 1914
  • early East Asia, around 1000BCE
  • the Romans in Britain
  • American Civil War
  • the Vikings
  • the East India Company
  • the short period 1700-1710 across the world
  • The early Ottoman Empire
  • the Tokugawa and transition to Meji in Japan

Our next topic, beginning in September, will be Russia from 1600-1800.

At present the group has room for some new members.
